OO Scale Model Trains For Sale

The OO scale model trains were first introduced in 1921 although they only became commercially available the following year. The model scale was first produced by the UK based manufacturer Bing. They were also the first company to introduce electric powered OO scale model trains in 1923. This was to provide variety to the clockwork model scale. Although Bing went down during the 30s, Trix was able to pick up where Bing left and continued its production. The OO scale came to the US shores in 1942 through Lionel. However, the HO scale is already overwhelmingly popular that the OO scale didn’t really fare well. The OO scale on the other hand is the most popular model scale in UK.

The OO scale has the train size of 1:72.6. This type of model train could adapt to both OO and HO tracks depending on the manufacturer. In UK, most OO scale model trains are sold as ready to run model trains. The track for the OO scale model is at 16.5mm but hobbyists today are also considering the finer alternative to the present OO gauge because of the narrow look of the model scale. Several variations for the track have been presented such as the 2ft narrow gauge and the 3ft narrow gauge which could be used depending on the preference of the hobbyist.
