N Scale Model Trains For Sale

The N scale model train is the second smallest model scale for trains yet, only behind the Z scale model. The N scale model ranges from 1:148 (common in Europe) to 1:160 (common in US). Japan’s N scale model is at 1:150. The original reference of N scale is not actually on the size of the model trains but on the size of the rails. The letter “N” means nine millimeters which is the standard measurement of an N scale rail, applicable to any N scale train size. Before DCC (Digital Command Control) the standard power requirement of N scale model trains is at the maximum of 12V. Speed is based on the amount of power applied and direction is caused by the polarity of the model trains. Current coupling for N scale model trains depends on the hobbyist. Originally, the “Rapido” coupling from a model scale company Arnold is widely used but it was too large and difficult to assemble. Currently, coupling for N scale model trains are now more realistic and came from different mo
deling companies although MTL (Micro Trains Line) couplers is gaining in popularity.

N scale model trains were formally introduced in 1962. However, trains with nine millimeter tracks were already available as early as 1927 but without any specifications from notable model scale company.
