Z Scale Marklin Model Trains


Märklin is German toy manufacturer which became a well known brand for model trains. The company was established in 1859 as a doll maker. But changing demands lead them to the development of their first model train. Märklin is credited for different innovations which are constantly followed by the model scale industry. Their introduction of different scale models, acquisition and development of different brands and continuous expansion are the known characteristic of model scale maker. Aside from being among the oldest toy makers in the worlds, it’s also one of longest privately owned companies. Märklin was only reorganized to expand ownership to different shareholders in 2006.

The Z scale was credit to Märklin who introduced this model scale in 1972. Through their dedication to precision and quality, they were able to come up with the smallest commercial model scale train yet with a measurement of 1:220. Märklin often markets these model trains as a starter pack to increase its popularity among hobbyists. They also sell track expansion sets as Z scale is known to run at record level with great strength requiring little power. The DCC in Z Scale Märklin trains was introduced in 1988 as the company reduced the size of the DCC to adapt to the Z scale model.
