O Scale Marx Model Trains

Marx is a popular toy manufacturing brand founded by Louis Marx during the early decades of the 20th century. Louis Marx started offering model trains in 1930 and it was very competitive because of its lowered price with an almost same quality as its high end competitors.  It is one of the few companies that survived during the Great Depression. In fact, Marx even increased their profit during the Great Depression. Unfortunately, the Marx brand of model scale trains and its toys died almost the same time with its founder. The last known connection of original Marx trains and its toys was when it was under Quaker Oats which quickly dissolved their Marx brand due to slow sales. Only the name remains of the Marx brand with no connections to the original.

The O scale Marx model trains were the first type of trains released by Marx during the 30s. It was the most popular model scale during that time and the competitive price of Marx made it even more popular, even during the Great Depression. The original Marx model trains, before the Quaker Oats take over, are a very popular collector’s item because of its rarity. The O scale is particularly popular because they were the first model trains sold by Marx.
