O Scale Atlas Model Trains
Atlas is a family owned company established in 1924 by Stephan Schaffan Sr. as machine shop. The company’s venture into model train was due to the ingenuity of Stephan Schaffan Jr. who made pre-assembled model trains and tracks out of different model train parts. The company was officially incorporated in 1949 because of its continuing success in their model scale products. Atlas used to dedicate themselves to N and HO models which were both popular in the US. But the resurgence of other model scales led to the establishment of Atlas O which focused on O scale models.
The O Scale Atlas is a new product line of Atlas. Atlas O was established after it was able to acquire Industrial Rail and Trainman products. Although it’s relatively new compared to other O scale manufacturers, their 60 years of experience have made them one of the most respected brands in the company. Their model trains are fully compatible with O gauge and O-27 gauge. The O scales of Atlas are also known for their durability as they could be handled even by a six-year old kid. Their products also come with a 2-year warranty and they are fully expandable to other model trains especially with Atlas expansion packs.
