Kato Precision Railroad Model is a Japan based manufacturer of Japanese and US model trains. They are well known for building some of the best well-designed model trains made in Japan. The company reached the US shores in 1986 with the intent of building quality US model trains. Kato established their office in Schaumburg, Illinois and immediately started on US models. While developing American model trains, the company also markets Japanese model trains which are growing in popularity because of their unique design which has become a collector’s item due to its rarity.
The US factory of Kato manufactures N and HO scale models. The HO scale models of Kato could be easily singled out because of their unique feature. The model trains of Kato run in a track with a special device called Unijoiner. This device is used in rails to ensure smooth operations of the track. Unijoiner could be also used in other model trains not from Kato but they are often seen with Kato because of its compatibility. The motor of HO model scale trains are known for its power with precision control even in highly controlled movements of model trains. Precision and power is common in model scale trains of Kato.
